Brewing up acclaim
While only a year old, Little Fish Brewing Company has made quite a splash.
Co-founders Sean White and Jimmy Stockwell planned to have their grand opening coincide with the start of last year’s Ohio Brew Week. The race to get the facility operational proved to be worth the effort. While only a few beers were available, Little Fish received immediate attention (and business) during the week.
Little Fish celebrates their first anniversary at the beginning of Brew Week 2016, and they have much to celebrate.
In the past year, Little Fish won “Best New Business” in The Athens News Best of Athens Readers’ Choice Awards for 2016. At the RateBeer.com awards they were named “Best New Brewer” in Ohio. Which is saying something, because, you know, Ohio has a ton of new breweries.
The young facility kept racking up the acclaim, with their Barrel-Aged Woodthrush taking home gold in the “Belgian and French style ale” category at the World Beer Cup, beating out 41 other entries from around the globe.
Some achievements are even more impressive than shiny gold medals and plaques. In this past year, Little Fish installed a foeder for beer aging, planted fruit trees and hops and bottled over four different barrel or foeder aged beers which can be found in locations around the state and at their taproom.
Little Fish has a full board of new offerings compared to last year, all worth checking out. Make sure to like them on Facebook and follow on Instagram and Twitter to see what this year brings for the decorated little brewery.
