Little Fish is excited to start Ohio Brew Week with a bang. Coal Fired Bicycle will kick things off for Friday July 13th from 8:00-10:00pm.
Coal Fired Bicycle is an Alt-Left-Country power trio from Columbus, Ohio that is fronted by husband and wife duo Dan and Stephanie Sherwood and backed by their best friend Aaron Heindel. Formed in 2010, their name is a reference to Sylvester H Roper’s Steam Velocipede, a 19th century predecessor to the motorcycle. For the band, Coal Fired Bicycle is conceptual shorthand for the absurd and shortsighted backwardness of late-capitalist America. Their emotionally raw songs are rooted in the americana tradition, but are updated thematically and structurally by the stark dichotomies of the modern American experience, drawing from the likes of Drive By Truckers, Uncle Tupelo, 16 Horsepower, The Decemberists. David Bazan, and Fred Eaglesmith. They have released two EP’s to date – 2011’s Times is Tough All Over and 2013’s Low Rent Monster and are currently self-producing their first LP for a late 2018/early 2019 release.
