Land-Grant brings craft and Columbus pride to Brew Week
Land-Grant Brewing is named for the Morrill Act of 1862 which set aside federal land in each state for public universities. The love of a certain Columbus-based school inspired the name, and the love of the city itself led the owners of Land-Grant to set up shop in the area.
Luckily for us they don’t hoard all of that good beer up in Columbus!
Now boasting a half-decade of brewing, Land-Grant has cranked out a huge range of beers. Their core line (1862 Kolsch, to name one) are dependable go-tos. There’s always a Land-Grant six-pack you would feel great reaching for in a grocery store. But you don’t want to miss the exciting collaborations they get into, such as their yearly partnership with Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams. 2019’s collab beer is “Splendid Berry Brut” inspired by the annual Strawberry harvest and brewed to pair with Jeni’s Strawberry Buttermilk ice cream. Or just nice, fresh strawberries in general.
From kolsch to a strawberry brut, needless to say Land-Grant can produce fantastic examples in a wide variety of styles.
If you’re looking for a great taproom experience in Columbus, check out Land-Grant’s location in Franklinton, right across from BrewDog. Land-Grant vastly expanded their outside patio area in order to host outdoor events. This is a serious summer hangout spot.
Land-Grant even has a taproom at John Glenn International Airport. It’s arguably the best place to wait for your flight.
Of course, you can find a range of Land-Grant brews in six-packs and on draft around Columbus, and right here in Athens for Ohio Brew Week.
Make sure to follow Land-Grant and Ohio Brew Week on social media and check our beer list for where to find them around Athens this year.
