Permaculture in action

Solid Ground Farm is a sustainable education and event center dedicated to practicing and promoting a neo-agrarian lifestyle. Local materials, native and naturalizing plants, heirloom and heritage veggies and livestock, combine in a farm ecosystem adapted to our unique bioregion.  Visit Solid Ground to see gardens in the image of the Eastern deciduous forest, houses built of earth and wood, and unique and creative uses of land and water.

The farm includes a permaculture inspired large-scale forest garden, integrating small-scale livestock with perennial trees, shrubs, and herbs, creating an ideal foraging ground for humans and animals alike, while simultaneously enriching the soils, fostering diversity, and rebuilding a forest.  This style of “agriculture” combined with inspiration from the natural building and sustainability movements, creates simple, ecologically sound approaches to “work”, homesteading, and general wellness.

Visit the site to learn about hands-on workshops, tours, community supported agriculture internships, children’s camps and special events. Learn about permaculture design, regenerative homesteading, edible forest gardening, natural building, natural farming and outdoor adventure in action.
