Doppelbocks were originally brewed by monks in Germany as a form of “liquid bread” to sustain themselves during times of fasting. As the story goes, no solid food was permitted, but the more beer a monk drank the closer to God he might come. Whether this lager causes you to see the light or not you’ll enjoy the depth of malty flavors. Dark bread, caramel, and a sweet roastiness will both warm and sustain you through even the longest of fastings.
